Freshly Made Sketches.....You Are So Kind

Happy Thursday Peeps!!

Today I am sharing a card I made using the sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches.

I love the Farmers Market DSP in particular the gingham prints in the pack. I used the Blackberry Bliss Gingham along with another piece of DSP from the same pack for my jumping off point for this card.

I really wanted to use the Flower Patch stamp set with its matching dies. I got this set last year and had never used it. So I was determined to use it today.

Some days you hit the mark and other days it is just eh!

Not as thrilled with this card as I wanted to be but it is OK.

The base of the card is Crumb Cake card stock then a layer of Naturals card stock.
The flowr is stamped several times with Blackberry Bliss and cut out and layered with dimensionals.
The top layer is stamped off once to get the lighter appearance.
The leaves are stamped with Wild Wasabi and hand cut out.

I made my tag using the scallop top tag topper punch.

The sentiment is from the Watercolor Wings stamp set.
I added some Blackberry Bliss ribbon along with a vanilla vintage button to the top of the tag.

I finished up with a few gold sequins.
Thanks for stopping by today!

OCC...Fabric Flower

Good Morning Peeps!! It is Saturday and that means it is time for another new challenge at Our Creative Corner.

This week our challenge hostess is - Kristin Tierney and her challenge for us is Fabulous Fabric - Let's put aside our usual fabric embellishment - ribbon; and use fabric instead! Create a project using fabric as a background, an embellishment or your focal point.

I wasn't sure what to do with this one at first, I have purchased the Stampin' Up fabric but really haven't used it, so that was my starting point. I also knew that I wanted to make a flower, but what kind or how? I tried a couple of thinks and then finally settled on this technique, so easy peasy. I used a 24 inch long by 2-1/2 inch wide strip of fabric, folded in half and ironed. I then just did a running stitch down the edge and gathered. I then curled the flower around on itself and anchored my stitching. I added a pretty button and it was finished.

I added it to my card by using my glue gun. I used this sketch for my card layout. keeping it clean and simple so all attention goes to the fabric flower! I did use some fun lace I have been hoarding for awhile.

I hope you’ll play along this week and have fun with this challenge! Be sure to check out the rest of the OCC design team creations! To play along, upload your creation to your blog or gallery, then leave a comment linking to your project over at Our Creative Corner so we can check it out. If you upload to SCS, remember to use keyword: OCCC.

Well, that is all from me for now, Thanks for stopping by and HAPPY STAMPING!!!

SSSC101.....Thank You for your Kindness

GOOD SUNDAY MORNING PEEPS!!! It's my favorite time of the week, time for another Sweet Sunday Sketch Sample

This is the fabulous sketch Karen has for us this week:

I started my card with a base of Pear Pizzazz. I followed that up with some designer paper form the Springtime Vintage paper pack, which is a new pack in the Occasions Mini Catalog. Love this paper! I then used the Top Note die and some Baja Breeze card stock and another piece of paper from the Springtime Vintage pack. The main element is an oval piece of watercolor paper that is matted with a pear pizzazz scallop oval.

I used a SAB set, that will be available starting the 25th for free with a $50.00 purchase. The set is called Sweet Summer. I am really liking this set for water coloring, so pretty. The sentiment is from the Hostess set Occasional Quotes. I added some pear pizzazz ribbon and some pearls to the corners. I also added some diamond dust glitter to the bee's wings and to the flower centers.

I hope you can find some time to play along with us this week, I would love to see what you come up with, create a card or scrapbook page with this sketch and then go to Karen's blog and link up your project for all of us to see.

This week we are welcoming a new member to the Sketch Team: The fabulous Dana White from Dana's House of Cards. Be sure and stop by and welcome her to the team!!

Kindness

Happy Tuesday Peeps!! Hope your official first week of the new year is going well. The start of the new year is always a little melancholy for me. Not sure why but looking back always makes me feel that way. Maybe because I am getting older and I feel OLD!!! LOL!!

I first made this card last week and it was the start of the 5 valentine cards made with this set, the Stampin Up Greeting Card Kids and the Stampin Up Love Letters DSP. Any of you that follow my blog regularly know that I have been hooked on this set for sometime now and can't make a card without using it. I also have another card planned with it for tomorrow's post so be on the look out for that. I promise I will put it away soon, well maybe after next month....LOL!!!

The idea for this card came from the challenge from the LateNightStampers group. The challenge is to make a card that is about one of your New Year's Resolutions. I am not one to make those so I was thinking what could I make to tie into something I wanted to accomplish in the future? While out shopping this past month before the holidays I saw alot of the worse of people, the pushing, the rudeness, the short-tempered people and sales clerks at the the stores I went to. One day while standing in line at the my local Dollar Store, with my tissue paper and baskets and bows waiting to check out, I finally made it up to the register, I was next in line and the person in front of me was having trouble finding enough change to complete her purchase, I offered her the little bit of change she needed and you would have thought I had given her a million dollars, she was so nice and so grateful it made my day. Now I don't have alot of money and certainly don't have enough to give away, but heck this was less than 75 cents and that will never make or break me. Later in the week I offered a elder gentleman at the grocery store my place in line, he had just a couple of items and seemed upset having to wait behind someone who's cart was full. He wasn't as appreciative as the lady I gave the change to, but still he said thank you and the store clerk smiled at me in the way that warmed my heart and made me smile too. I know these two examples are not much but it is the small things we do every day that define us, I think. So this lead me to the card, the Kindness, the random acts of kindness, and the over all kindness to others and to ourselves. It is what I am striving for this year, believe me it is NOT always easy, I get stressed, I get short tempered, I get aggravated, I just want to work on not being that way so much.

So anyway that is my card and my New Years Resolution, Kindness. Do it, and pass it on!!

Well, since I spent so much time telling you why I made this card I won't tell you all about how to make the card, it is pretty self-explanatory, but if you have any questions, just let me know. Thanks for stopping by and HAPPY STAMPING!!!!

SSSC53 Kindness

Good Sunday Morning Peeps! It is my favorite time of the week, time for another Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge!!!

Here is the sketch we are working with this week:

I have to say I was inspired by Nancy's Sweet Sunday Sketch Card from last week to pull out my Cottage Wall DS pack. I used it alot when I first got it and then hadn't used it lately. So that was my starting point for this card. I chose the DS designs I wanted to use and then I also used rich razzleberry and whisper white card stock.

The stamp set I used is a new fave of mine "Herb Expressions". The sentiment comes from the "Heard from the Heart" set. I inked up just the "kindness" on the stamp, by using some post it note paper to mask off the rest of the words. I stamped the flower or herb with black stazon and used my aqua painter to lightly color in the leaves with old olive ink and the tops with rich razzleberry ink. I used my new Border Scallop trim punch, which is from the SAB catalog, for the bottom edge of the second layer. I used my blossom and circle nesties to cut out the main image panel. It is attached to the base with some foam tape. I added some old olive buttons and some piercing under the sentiment to finish the card.

Well, that is all from me, let's see what the rest of the Sketch Team has for you today.
