Make a Wish

TGIF, peeps!!!

My card today is another for the challenges at splitcoast, this one for the limited supply challenge, Fun with shapes. The challenge this week is to create a card using both a rectangle and a circle in your design.

Your card can be in any theme.

Embellishments - Ribbon only!!!

I wanted to use my new SU set Crazy for Cupcakes and was going to use the image with the stacked cupcakes on a stand, but when I water colored it, I made a discovery. I had purchased a brand of watercolor paper that I don't usually use and even tho it was 140lb weight it was much different from the brand I always use. Live and Learn huh? It just couldn't take the water very well, not sure how to explain it, just wasn't right.....so I just went with the single cupcake and used my markers and a blender pen to color the image. I am heading back to Hobby Lobby tonight to get the good stuff!!! I love to watercolor and you really need good paper to start and to achieve good results. Like my next card. It was made with the last bit of my old pack.

What a difference the paper makes huh? I love the look and feel of this card, the BG paper is some I got last year at Hobby Lobby and it is by My Minds Eye. I am hoping they still have some, I'll check when I head over there after work tonight. I like the aged look of it and of course I love anything with polka dots! The brads was a find at Michael's, I grabbed the last two packages and one went in the box I sent to my little acorn. I used riding hood red for the base and it matches the DS paper really well. As does the kraft cardstock. I think the river rock ribbon matches pretty good too, glad to be able to use it again. I find when the new colors come out the old ones just seem to be forgotten as well as the ribbon. I don't know about you but when I design a card it is really trial and error. I don't know the things I want to use and what embellishments I will use until I am putting it all together, however on this one I did know I wanted those leaf brads somewhere. The rest just come together as I went along, even the piercing on the scallop was done after I had put the card all together, I had to peel up the edge and stick my mat under the edge and do the holes and then stick it all down again. Are any of you like that? I always imagine that everyone else's creations come together without the trouble and anguish that I go through. My daughter assures me that it is probably the same for most others.

Well that all I got for you today, thanks so much for stopping by and Happy Stamping!!!

A Merry Christmas Cardinal

Happy Hump Day peeps!!! Hope you are all having a great day so far!

My card today was made with the sketch challenge on splitcoast. I water colored the cardinal from the SU set A Christmas Cardinal with my aquapainter and real red ink, and shaded some with bravo burgundy, this cardinal is really easy to color, I love it!!! We have cardinals at our bird feeder in the back yard all year round and they are especially gorgeous during the winter when it snows, it is amazing to watch them all.

I am not so thrilled with how this card turned out, I think I should have used another shade of green..??!! The cute little snowflakes are buttons, I got at Hobby Lobby, that I cut the shank off the back with my scissors and put on the card with glue dots. I used the cuttlebug and snowflake embossing folder for one layer of my background, the other is some always artichoke DS paper from SU that is retired, it is from the Holiday Harmony DS pack, I believe.

This next card is really a fun and quick card I made last night, I really love this snowman stamp from Penny Black, it is one of my all time favorite snowmen stamps. I used stickles to cover the ground and for the falling snow. I used my tombow gray marker to add just a bit of shade to one side of the snowman and just a little pumpkin pie for his nose. I love all the bling on this card, it just sparkles so much IRL! The snowman and the cuttlebugged BG is on SU shimmer paper, adds a nice glow. Of course I had to add some snowflakes with my new Martha Stewart punch, love that thing!!

Thanks so much for stopping by today and Happy Stamping!!!

Junior Legal Pad Wishlists

Good Tuesday morning peeps. Have you voted yet? I got out at 6:30 this morning and waited in line for about 30 minutes, not bad considering the lines they are showing on the news in some areas!!!

Today's project is one from splitcoast's Holiday Tutorial Blitz. I just love Nancy Riley, Hi Nancy, I don't really know her but she is soooo sweet, she comments on alot of my cards and also here on my blog! She did the tutorial for these Wishlists. I had some Jr. legal pads already that I had cut in half from Office Max. I got them last year when I first saw the wish lists on her blog, and hadn't used them, so last night I dug through my stash and found them. These wishlist are so fun to make! I made 6 last night, two just like Nancy's in the tutorial with the Dashing DS paper from SU, I didn't take a picture of them since you can see her cuties. One of the other two sets I made I used the Frosty Days DS paper and the other I used the Winter and Bright Simply Scrappin' Kit from last year.

These are alot of fun to make and really easy, I am going to make some matching RSVP pens to go with them for some fun little gifts!

Thanks so much for stopping by today and Happy Stamping!!

Decorative Circle Medallion, A weekend Sketch and a Triangle Santa Box

Good Monday morning peeps!!! Hope you had a great weekend.

Today's cards are made for the technique challenge on splitcoast. This is a really fun and elegant way to showcase your central image on the card. I am sure it would be adorable with a fun little snowman or penguin or the like in the center. This corner punch is the only decorative corner punch I have, and I really need some more to try with this technique.

The technique is so fun and I really love the outcome, and it is not hard at all to achieve. There is a video tutorial for it
here. If you read my blog I referred to this amazing person and her blog a week or two ago. She has such an elegant style and the papers and ribbon she uses are magnificent.

My next card is for Beate's Weekend sketch challenge. I deviated from the sketch slightly to make it fit the images I wanted to use. I hope it still is close enough to qualify.

Of all the cards I did this weekend, this is my favorite, just love all the bling!!!

And lastly a cute little triangle box I mad following this tutorial here. I made my into a Santa, I like it but I am not thrilled with it yet, I need to change it up a bit, but for the first attempt, NOT bad!!!

Imagine a white pom-pom on his hat, I didn't have one yet, but that is what I envisioned there.
