Warm Wishes Floral Arrangement

Happy Tuesday Peeps!

Last week I mentioned in a post about using the Prized Peony stamp set for every season and also said I had not done a Christmas/Winter theme.
Well, after feeling uninspired most of last week and sitting at my stamp table making some Halloween treats but nothing else I finally thought to myself.....go back to your comfort zone.
Do what you love and feel good doing.
So I pulled out the Prized Peony again and decided I would try red for my Christmas flower.

I had in mind a Carnation while coloring these. I see red carnations in many Christmas floral arrangements so that is what I decided to do.
Now we all know that a true carnation does not have a center like this flower, but hey, that is where creative license come in to play.

I stamped the flower a few times on Thick Whisper White card stock with Black Stazon ink.
I then used my Water Brush and ink pads to color, I used Real Red and Cherry Cobbler for the flower and Crushed Curry and Bumble Bee for the center.
I fussy cut them out and then began to build my floral arrangement.

I decided to put my florals in a wood box, so I used a piece of DSP from the In Good Taste pack.
I just cut a small rectangle and wrapped it with a piece of Real Red satin ribbon.
I cut a few pine cones from the Beautiful Boughs Die set with Early Espresso and Crumb Cake cardstock along with some pine boughs with Mossy Meadow cardstock to use along with the flowers in the floral arrangement.

I arranged the flowers first and then tucked in the pine cones and greenery.
Then feeling it needed something more I used a piece of DSP from the Poinsettia Place pack to die cut and fussy cut some berries.
I tucked them in and around the arrangement.

My berries are sticking out a bit past the base of the card, which I didn't think about when making the floral piece. But when adding it to the card I couldn't really change it, so this is another of my cards that would need a special envelope if it was to be mailed but chances are it will be hand delivered or attached to a gift bag.

I made the base last. I tried a few colors and pieces of embossed and DSP before settling on what you see now. I like the rustic background look
I struggled a bit with adding a sentiment as well, bu finally settled on the one here from the Poinsettia Petals stamp set. I stamped with Early Espresso ink on thick Very Vanilla cardstock.

I finished up by adding a bow to he front of the box, which is fairly covered up so it is hard to see.

OMGoodness, this is beautiful, Vicki! I figured you'd find a way to make those Peonies into a Christmas card! LOL Your so awesome when it comes to flowers and bringing so much detail to them when you color them! Love this with the pine cones & sprigs and that wonderful woodgrain DSP! Well done, my friend!
