OCC...Not Big on Pink Challenge

Happy Saturday Peeps, It is time for another Our Creative Corner Challenge.
This week our hostess is the fabulous Sharon Wheet from Designs by Sharon. She has a fun challenge for us, here it is in her own words:

'Not Big on Pink' .  For those who know me, I am a girl-y girl.  I love flowers, ribbons, buttons, and all shades of red/pink.  When you see my paper crafting
samples, you can tell right away I like shabby chic, and feminine images.   However, I have girlfriends who don't even like pink!  Crazy, I know.  So, for this paper craft challenge, I want you to use any shade of blue, and just a touch of pink.  If you need a number, think 1/5 or less in pink.  You must also incorporate some texture, (ie: fabric, ribbon, floss, etc) and a metal piece (ie: brad, push pin, charm, etc.).  Make something pretty without going over the top in pinks!  Heather Hilliard of House Beautiful circa Oct 2011, said that, 'A bright, happy blue becomes very sophisticated when paired with a neutral'.   So, if you find you're having a bit of a struggle, let Heather's words help guide you.  And most of all, have FUN!
I choose to use Pool Party for my blue and the touch of pink is Calypso Coral.
I wanted to use this cute little girl stamp that is from the new Stampin Up set called "Gift Givers" it is in the Holiday Mini. She is adorable huh?
I stamped her with some black stazon onto white card stock and colored with my aqua painter and some ink from squishing together my ink pads.

Here is a close up of that sweet little image:

I framed her with some Pool Party card stock that I embossed with the new Snow Burst embossing folder I then matted with a bit of Calypso Coral card stock. The DSP I used is from the Stampin Up Domestic Goddess paper pack. I cut a snowflake from the Snowflake #2 die with more pool party card stock and I used just a portion of the snowflake and tucked it under the edge of the framed little girl. I added some of the new dazzling details to the snowflake and the image piece. I added a bit of calypso coral ribbon and some "silver" pearls.

Be sure to check the Our Creative Corner Blog to see what the rest of the design team came up with for this fun  challenge. I hope you can find some time to play along and if you do don't forget to link it up over on the Our Creative Corner Blog so we can all see it!

Thanks for stopping by today and HAPPY STAMPING!!!!

Vicki

Vicki, I love to see what you create! I purchased the same pattern paper, and all I seem to make with it is 'domestic goddess' themed projects. I love how you used this retro-style pattern paper to create the most pretty, simply stunning christmas card! I love it! I really like how you took a simple pattern paper and made it stunning! Great take on this challenge!

Absolutely adorable card this week, Vicki! Those colors are so soft and sweet together and I just love the plaid and checked paper. Don't have any Pool Party yet, but you are inspiring me to put in on my next SU order. Great texture and that snowflake is awesome. Super take on the blue-pink challenge!

And I'm even later that you in visiting all the team members this week! Hope your week has been terrific.

Hugs,
Linda
