SC328....friend to friend

TGIF Peeps!!

Today I am sharing a card I made with the sketch challenge on Splitcoaststampers.

I had a ton of problems while making this card, that has been my M.O. lately, I am in a bit of a stamping slump and have been trying to push through it. I decided right away with this sketch to use this sweet image from the Stampin' Up "The Nicest Things" stamp set. I stamped it onto some very vanilla card stock with black stazon ink. I pulled out some paper from the Springtime Vintage paper pack and used that for my color pallet for coloring this image.

After getting it all colored, I set the image aside to work on the design of the sketch. I tried several colors and designs of the paper before I settled on the one you see here and even now I am second guessing this, I think I should have made my base with the rose red and then the very vanilla, but it is done now.

While coloring on the card stock is not that hard but you do have to be careful not to over-saturate the paper. The card stock tends to curl just a bit, so when I was adhering it to the matt, I flipped it over on my work surface, (which is the stampin up grid pad) and ran my hand over the back of the piece to smooth the image and make sure it laid flat. When I picked it up, it tore. I guess there was some adhesive on the grid paper and it gabbed hold of the image piece right in the middle and tore it. Man I was so upset. I smoothed it out the best I could and it didn't look to bad except in the are of the middle of the basket. So came the little popped up flower. It covered the messed up part pretty well and looked OK. I finished up the card with some basic pearls and rose red seam binding. DONE!!!!

I guess some days are just like that and you find new ways to make it work. Ha!

Well, that is all from me today, be sure to come back by tomorrow for another Our Creative Corner Challenge!

HAPPY STAMPING!!!!

Even though you say you struggled with this one it turned out beautifully! Great idea to cover the tear on the basket with the little flower - looks perfect there!

Oh Vicki, you've still got it girl! When I'm buzzing down through Google Reader, I can always spot your cards and they make me pause...and oooh and aaah! Seriously, I love your work and have not noticed a "slump" at all! Btw, brilliant save on this one...the little flower was meant to be! :)
