Hello Peeps!!
I am back with another card share.
This card was made using the sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.
This set, Peaceful Poinsettia, caught my eye first when looking through the mini catalog.
Poinsettias were my Mom's favorite at Christmas and when ever I see them it takes me back to all of our wonderful Christmases. My parents have been gone for many years now but we never stop missing our loved ones.
Anyway I love to color and because the poinsettias have a special memory for me, I love to use them on some Christmas cards each year.
The sketch seemed like a perfect place for a little flower for the circle element in the sketch.
I stamped the image a few times onto thick whisper white and colored with my ink pads and water brush.
I fussy cut them out and layered them together using some dimensionals between the layers.
The base of the card is Basic Gray card stock, then a layer of Cherry Cobbler. The DSP is from the Festive Farmhouse pack.
I die cue the leaves and holly berries out with the Detailed Poinsettia Thinlits that match the stamp set.
The seniment is stamped with real red ink a few times to build and darken the color.
Thanks for coming by!
Vicki
Oh WOW! This card is amazing, Vicki! Love how you colored and layered your beautiful poinsettia! Awesome paper choice too! Well done, my friend!!
ReplyDeleteNow you've got me singing the sentiment on your card, which is lovely by the way. :) I love the greenery behind your pretty poinsettias, and the plaid paper goes with them perfectly. It's so good to have you back in the Freshly Made Sketches gallery, Vicki!
ReplyDeleteOh, Vicki, my mom was the same about poinsettias. Every year on Friday after Thanksgiving she would put out her first poinsettia and add something red throughout the house with many poinsettias and oh so many gorgeous decorations. It was stunning, and then they would have an open-house on Christmas Eve for family and friends. I love those cherished memories, and my parents are both gone many years as well...but I still remember and love them well. I love your card and the beautifully colored and fussy-cut poinsettia. It's stunning and a wonderful take on the sketch. Thanks for sharing your memories of your family. Love and hugs, Cheryl xoxo
ReplyDeleteAnother Vicki treasure! I love this card and even more knowing how special these flowers are to you. Gorgeous work! Glad to see you this week at FMS!
