Happy Saturday Peeps,
It is time for another Our Creative Corner Challenge.
This week our hostess is the fabulous Marjie Kemper from She Who Stamps & Scraps. Her challenge for us is:
Fabulous Faces:
Whether you like stamping, card making, altered arts, scrapbooks or collage, I bet faces have played a part of your artwork at some point.
Show us what you’ve got… whether you like vintage ladies in lace or fresh and funky kids…. steampunk engineers or shabby chic chicks…. even photos of yourself or your family.
Please show us your favorite faces this week.
After a bit of thought I knew exactly what "face" I wanted to use. My favorite Christmas girl from the Stampin' Up "Greeting Card Kids" stamp set.
I stamped this sweet vintage little girl onto some very vanilla card stock with black stazon ink. I went to my DSP packs to pick my colors and decided to use the "Letters to Santa" papers, I love the vintage feel to these. I had used this paper for the first time earlier in the week for another card and knew that it had a "blue" paper in it and I wanted to dress/color my little girl with that color. I checked the catalog and found that the blue is Marina Mist so that was my staring point. Her dress and hat is colored with Marina Mist and I used River Rock for the dress and hat trim. The gloves and tights are a combo of the blue and a bit of riding hood red.
I paired this DSP with some Crumb Cake card stock for the base and some Early Espresso for matting.
When looking for a sentiment to use on my card I pulled out the "Bells & Boughs" stamp set and the idea to use the Holly leaves for an accent hit me. I stamped them onto very vanilla and colored them with my aqua painter and cut them out and added them to the oval frame.
I added some crystal effects and dazzling diamonds to the berries. The sentiment is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set and I added a bit more holly and berries by it. I made a double bow with some crumb cake seam binding ribbon and an antique brad I added some crochet trim over the seam binding ribbon across the card. I finished it off with a few basic pearls on the top corners.
Be sure to check the Our Creative Corner Blog to see what the rest of the design team came up with for this fun challenge. I hope you can find some time to play along and if you do, don't forget to link it up over on the Our Creative Corner Blog so we can all see it!
Thanks for stopping by today and HAPPY STAMPING!!!!

ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely wonderful. I love that sweet retro image of the little girl. The colors and DP are terrific, but what I think is really stunning is the way you have fussy cut the holly and used it as an embellie - that is the perfect finisher for this card!
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a great weekend.

Linda
