Kindness

Happy Tuesday Peeps!! Hope your official first week of the new year is going well. The start of the new year is always a little melancholy for me. Not sure why but looking back always makes me feel that way. Maybe because I am getting older and I feel OLD!!! LOL!!

I first made this card last week and it was the start of the 5 valentine cards made with this set, the Stampin Up Greeting Card Kids and the Stampin Up Love Letters DSP. Any of you that follow my blog regularly know that I have been hooked on this set for sometime now and can't make a card without using it. I also have another card planned with it for tomorrow's post so be on the look out for that. I promise I will put it away soon, well maybe after next month....LOL!!!

The idea for this card came from the challenge from the LateNightStampers group. The challenge is to make a card that is about one of your New Year's Resolutions. I am not one to make those so I was thinking what could I make to tie into something I wanted to accomplish in the future? While out shopping this past month before the holidays I saw alot of the worse of people, the pushing, the rudeness, the short-tempered people and sales clerks at the the stores I went to. One day while standing in line at the my local Dollar Store, with my tissue paper and baskets and bows waiting to check out, I finally made it up to the register, I was next in line and the person in front of me was having trouble finding enough change to complete her purchase, I offered her the little bit of change she needed and you would have thought I had given her a million dollars, she was so nice and so grateful it made my day. Now I don't have alot of money and certainly don't have enough to give away, but heck this was less than 75 cents and that will never make or break me. Later in the week I offered a elder gentleman at the grocery store my place in line, he had just a couple of items and seemed upset having to wait behind someone who's cart was full. He wasn't as appreciative as the lady I gave the change to, but still he said thank you and the store clerk smiled at me in the way that warmed my heart and made me smile too. I know these two examples are not much but it is the small things we do every day that define us, I think. So this lead me to the card, the Kindness, the random acts of kindness, and the over all kindness to others and to ourselves. It is what I am striving for this year, believe me it is NOT always easy, I get stressed, I get short tempered, I get aggravated, I just want to work on not being that way so much.

So anyway that is my card and my New Years Resolution, Kindness. Do it, and pass it on!!

Well, since I spent so much time telling you why I made this card I won't tell you all about how to make the card, it is pretty self-explanatory, but if you have any questions, just let me know. Thanks for stopping by and HAPPY STAMPING!!!!

What a sweetheart you are. I love your examples of kindness you shared, and it is soooo true! If everyone would be more like you are, this world would be a much nicer place to live in. I also think, that like the lady who showed appreciation for your kindness, we need to show more appreciation as well.

Thank you for the reminder, and hopefully we can all follow your example.

Oh yeah, and darling card too! Hahahaha

Your card is so adorable and you have really rocked this SU set! Keep bringing on the creative goodness! I commend you for your RAKS...it's so true how little gestures can make someone's day. I often offer to take a shopping cart to the proper parking space for someone...especially an elderly person. At work, instead of exchanging gifts with each other, we opted to buy gifts for a needy family (single mother with 2 young girls). It blesses us more when we do these RAKS and thanks for sharing your new year's goal with us!

Love love love this set and this paper.. It is gorgeous.. Your write up is awesome. I am so sad that our world has become so harsh. My hubby got a tongue lashing from me for not being kinder to a customer service person. Good for you for doing these RAK's. It does make a difference..:)

Lovely story, gorgeous card! You never know how a small act of kindness will affect someone. "People will forget what you say, they will forget what you do but they will never forget how you made them feel."
