Scallop Flower Birthday

Good Monday Morning Peeps. Start of another great stamping week! The new SU cattie is awesome and goes live today!!! What will be on your first order? I know for sure I am ordering the new Eyelet Border Punch and some of the new buttons and brads! One of my favorite stamp sets is the Quilt Quips so that will be on my first order as well. I also love the set Thoughts and Prayers and every one of the sets on pages 90 and 91! I just know my wallet will take a serious hit or two the next couple of months!!! LOL!!!

Now onto today's card, first off it is my sister's birthday today, so this card is for her, second of all have you seen This wonderful ladies blog? I just love all she does and I totally fell in love with this amazing card. I knew right away I wanted to try one myself.

I used Jen's Sketch For You To Try for my layout on this card.

I started by making my scallop flower. I cut a piece of riding hood red DS paper 1 1/4 inch by 12 inches and used the scallop edge punch on one side. I then folded the strip back and forth, accordion style, and then used some score tape to bring the two ends together. To make it stay together in the middle I put a large glue dot in the middle and pushed it all together. Then I used one of the circle designs from the SU set "Sweet Serendipity" to make the center element and the two side flowers. I had to cut them out because I didn't have a punch that fit the design, and then used a scrap of riding hood red to punch a 3/4 inch circle to layer. I used a mini white brad for the center and attached it to the flower with another glue dot. The Happy Birthday stem is from the SU set "Stem Sayings" and the "Celebrate" is from "Sweet Serendipity". I used my piercing tool and mat pack to make the "stitched" stems and colored them in with a marker. The designer paper is from the Riding Hood red print pack.

This card is pretty thick with the scallop flower and wouldn't fit into an envelope for mailing, but is great if you want to hand deliver or attach to a present.

On another fun and amazing note I was highlighted on

Nancy's blog. She makes weekly picks of some of her favorite cards and projects that she finds either on splitcoast or blurfing (blog surfing) and she post a list weekly. She picked my Petal Pizazz Card. I am so honored, Nancy is one of stamping idols! So I am doing the happy dance over here!!!

Well, that's all for today, thnks so much for stopping by and Happy Stamping!

Vicki

This is just amazing. I love everything about it. I haven't seen the new catty yet but am now dying to know what the eyelet border punch is.

LOVE this card, Vicki! I too love all of Chat's designs! Did you know that she lives only a few miles from me? She's such a sweetheart in person too!

Me? ... a stamping idol? ... NO WAY! You're silly!

Very cute, I saw this on Chat's & tried to make one myself but I got frustrated trying to do the fan folds evenly (no Scorpal)! Maybe I'll try it again, yours looks so great!
