Color Challenge.......Merry Christmas Chickadee

Happy Tuesday Peeps!

So sorry for the lack of posting, I am just not stamping much. I attribute that to not enjoying alot of my stamps. You all know that I am a loyal Stampin' Up girl, but to be honest the last few catalogs do not have much to my liking. I am not really a "trendy" stamper and I am having a hard time fitting my style into the SU mold lately. Makes me sad to say and maybe I shouldn't here on my blog but it is what it is.

Anyway onto this lovely card, I DO like this one, but it is done with mostly retired items, the stamp set, Beautiful Season retired last year, I will always keep this one, it is so pretty and makes pretty cards. The DSP on here is from the retired, Deck the Halls pack, I love this pack and the vintage feel of it.

The colors come from the Splitcoast Color Challenge:

When I saw these colors I knew right away I wanted to use this set.

The sentiment is from the Petite Pairs stamp set. I used some Crumb Cake taffeta ribbon to make my loopy bow.  I added some basic pearls and an antique brad to the middle of the bow. The image is die cut with the Window Frame Dies.

Hope you like it!
Thanks for stopping by today!

Vicki

P.S. I was made aware recently that there was a problem with some of my e-mails, so if you e-mailed me and I did not reply, chances are I did not receive it, so please forgive me and resend. All issues have been resolved, I hope.

Hi Vicki. Really funny what you mentioned in your blog about new products, I've kind of been gravitating toward my older retired stuff too as I'm craving more traditional patterns and images. I love this Christmas stamp, it's one of my favorites and I never tire of seeing it! Gorgeous card! TFS.

Your card is gorgeous! I regret not getting that set. I, too, have not been in love with much in recent catalogs. I wasn't sure if the problem was that I've been stamping so long it all starts looking the same, or if it was the selection being offered. At least I know it's not just me!

I really love your cards...and I share the same sentiments as you. I've been finding it hard to get inspired.

Vicki, you are one of the most creative card makers in blog-land and you inspire many of us...don't be disheartened.....you have made some of the most beautiful cards I've ever seen!!
I don't have a "traditional" style when it comes to card making, but I firmly believe that the art of elegant, traditional & beautiful cards is still very much "in". Shelli herself is known for her vintage style so I don't think SU will ever move away from this genre of card making.
Maybe there needs to be a blog challenge devoted to traditional styles....no chevrons or Gorgeous Grunge allowed! ....to provide a creative, supportive & vibrant environment for card makers who enjoy this style. I think that's why CAS has made a comeback....there's so many blog challenges that showcase this style.

Hi -- You've expressed my sentiments exactly! I,too, thought perhaps I was losing interest in stamping in general -- when I saw your card (I love, and have, this set too!) and read your thoughts, I felt so much better about my lack of "mojo" lately -- maybe it's not me, but instead it's the creative ideas and products that Stampin' Up has been producing lately. You've inspired me to get this stamp set out and just be true to my style of stamping, even if it means using retired products. Thanks!

Oh Vcki, you hit the nail on the head. I too have been struggling with the new SU products. I thought it was just me. I have stamped for many years and have had a lot of changes in my life the last two years. Hopefully, SU will get back to their rocking style.

I have always liked your cards and your honesty. I don't want to see you get disheartened. I have been thinking that SU is trying to target a younger market, younger than I am by two or three decades. They seem to think their target market prefers a graphic style. When I look at the typical SCS poster, she's about my age and only a minimal number of cards are a graphic style. I have the impression that they're trying to dumb-down stamping with an emphasis on banners and chevrons with a word or two. Still, I do find sets I like even if the catalog art isn't very inspiring. They really do have a decent range of stamps and they encourage you to do it your way. Take them up on that! I am really pleased that they have noticed how discounted the stamping industry is right now and they have responded with a ton of specials. I am also looking forward to Sale-a-bration and hope it's as good as it was 2 years ago.

Just so you know Vicki, I pinned this card to Pinterest and it got 70 repins!!! Way to go! Just shows that your artistic work is VERY relevant and engaging! I think there is a place for ALL styles of stamping....we just need to continue to promote what we do through positive online communities - this fosters creativity for everyone. :)

Hi VIcki, I echo your sentiments, in previous years I could fill an order ( $300 in Australia), to get the hostess gift, now I really struggle to make it to $100 and most of that is on cardstock.
But I am not an SU demonstrator, so I don't have your dilemma, I can pick and choose my stamps.
We, your peeps still love your cards and are inspired by your talent.
Very best wishes.

Vicki, you say that you sometimes struggle with SU stamps, but I can assure you, your creations are superb, and much better than those that are pictured in the catalogues! Your style inspires me, so please keep doing what you're doing. Bev :)

Beautiful card. You really know how to make a wonderful greeting card, and I have bought several from your etsy store! I too have been using mostly retired SU stamps and designer paper, and holding onto my favorites with a death grip. Keep true to your crafting instincts, and please keep sharing your talent with us all.

I also struggle with the last few catalogs. I love SU, but not some of the new looks they are going for. I love this set and have started my Christmas cards with it. No reason why "oldies are not goodies". Keep creating with what you love... a lot of us do! TFS your beautiful card!
